The Golden State Warriors may still explore blockbuster moves this offseason, but recent reporting suggests the franchise has no intention of moving its No. 11 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Instead, Golden State appears increasingly intrigued by one international prospect rising quickly up draft boards.

According to Marc Spears of ESPN, the Warriors are showing strong interest in Mexican forward Karim Lopez, a 19-year-old wing who spent the last two seasons developing in Australia’s NBL Next Stars program.

“The Warriors have that 11th pick and people wondering can they get in the Giannis mix. From what I’m being told today from several people, the Warriors like to keep that pick,” Spears said.

However, the young small forward has rapidly emerged as one of the most intriguing international prospects in the draft class. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 11.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists for the New Zealand Breakers while shooting over 50 percent from the field against professional competition.

Several major outlets, including ESPN, Yahoo Sports, and USA TODAY Sports, now project Lopez to land in Golden State at No. 11.

Beyond the basketball fit, Lopez would also bring major market appeal. If selected in the first round, he would become the highest-drafted Mexican-born player in NBA history, creating immediate excitement within the Bay Area’s massive Latino fanbase.

Did Golden State Warriors Get Biggest Endorsement For Karim Lopez

The Warriors may not be in a position to draft one of the consensus top-four prospects in the 2026 NBA Draft, but a recent comment from Draymond Green could still end up carrying major relevance to Golden State’s plans at No. 11 overall.

During a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, Green made a surprisingly strong case for Caleb Wilson as the most special player in the entire draft class, even suggesting the Washington Wizards should consider taking him first overall.

“I actually think he’s a bit clumsy. And imagine being clumsy and as good as he is. And what I mean by clumsy, I don’t mean that in a negative way; I mean he’s still figuring his body out,” Green said about Wilson.

That evaluation may not directly affect Golden State’s position in the draft, but it does reveal the exact type of prospect Green appears to value. And that immediately brings another name into focus, Karim Lopez.

Much like Wilson, many still view Lopez as a player growing into his body and athletic ceiling. He measured over 6-foot-8 at the NBA Combine and weighed in at 222 pounds, giving him the type of size and positional flexibility modern NBA teams covet.
