The Golden State Warriors are one of the teams looking to shake up their roster in the offseason. After a second-round exit in the 2025 NBA playoffs, the Warriors are determined to improve their team. With an aging Stephen Curry, the organization is determined to make the most of his prime. Many believe Golden State will have a final push to try and contend for the title with Curry.

One of the names linked to the Warriors is one-time champion Derrick White. White will enter the first year of his four-year, $118 million contract this summer. And with a significant setback for the Boston Celtics with Jayson Tatum’s torn Achilles, the organization could be open to trading a few of its players. The former San Antonio Spurs guard could be a player to watch on the trading block.

On Friday, “The Zach Lowe Show” released an episode featuring The Ringer’s Lodan Murdock as a guest. Murdock suggested White as one of the players who could fit into their system,

“Another guy you should look at going forward, for the Warriors, is Derrick White,” Murdock said. “That’s something that the Warriors are looking at right now because Boston’s expected in league circles to have some sort of fire sale.”

The Celtics are rumored to be open to deals involving Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday. White could be among the players to be traded by the recently defeated defending champions.

One of the reasons why the Golden State Warriors lost was because of Curry’s injury. In Game 1 of their best-of-seven series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the four-time champion suffered a hamstring injury. He missed the succeeding games and couldn’t contribute to the team.

Through all that, however, there were a few who believed Curry could’ve played through his injury. However, his co-star, Draymond Green, thinks that having the star guard stay on the bench while injured was for the best.

“We have seen Steph play through a million injuries. Hamstrings, quads, calves, [and] muscles. If he could have given us 60%, I’d say no,” Green said. “If he could have given us 70%, I’d still say no. That’s not the answer.”

Risking Curry’s health to play through injury and try to save the Golden State Warriors’ season isn’t ideal. The team will still need the two-time MVP for next season.

Since falling to injuries, it was up to the rest of the team to try and win against the Wolves.
