Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green recently called out ESPN broadcaster Stephen A. Smith for throwing him under the bus this past season. Green took a lot of flack for his suspension last term, and Smith was one of the people who criticized the former Defensive Player of the Year.
Stephen A. has now clapped back at Green’s jab in a major way, and it appears that we have a real beef brewing between these two.
According to Green, he was under the impression that since he had a personal relationship with Smith, the renowned ESPN anchor would come to his defense amid the attacks Draymond received on his character throughout the 2023-24 campaign. The fact that Smith jumped on the hate train instead of taking Green’s side made the Warriors veteran feel betrayed by someone he held in high regard — or at least he used to.
Smith caught wind of Green’s blatant shot and the outspoken analyst wasted no time responding to the four-time All-Sar with his own lengthy tirade:
“Draymond Green just went on a national podcast… said that he lost respect for me. Now I’ve lost respect for him,” Smith said. “… I give over 3,000 takes a year… I’ve given over 40,000 takes throughout my career… I pride myself on being fair.”

Smith had a lot more to say in his monologue, but what is clear is that he took offense to Green’s statement. Stephen A has taken exception to Draymond questioning the way he does his job, which obviously involves having to come out with polarizing takes on a daily basis.
Green is not one to keep to himself so it will be very interesting to see how the 34-year-old reacts to Smith’s unfiltered response.
