The Golden State Warriors began their season with a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Golden State Warriors looked like the superior team as they had multiple players chip in.

The Warriors were led by their dynamic duo of Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, who combined for 54 points.

The Warriors also got key contributions from Jonathan Kuminga, who scored 17 points and Buddy Hield, who had 17 as well from off the bench.

Tim Bontemps thinks Gary Payton II could lose his spot in the rotation when the Golden State Warriors are fully healthy

Steve Kerr played 11 players in the Warriors’ first regular season game.

Hield and Horford saw the most minutes off the bench with 22 and 20, respectively.

Will Richard played 13 minutes, and Gary Payton II played 12. However, Payton II had a couple of bad possessions that have Tim Bontemps questioning his role when the Warriors get fully healthy.

“He had some rough possessions. He had a double-dribble and a horrible turnover in back-to-back possessions.

“The Gary Payton minutes are going to be something to monitor.

“I’m not sure how much he’ll be in the rotation when they are fully healthy.”

Gary Payton II could be the odd man out when key players return for the Golden State Warriors

The Warriors are loaded at the guard position and once they are fully healthy, they will have limited playing spots.

Moses Moody and DeAnthony Melton did not suit up in the team’s season opener.

Moody was out with a left Soleus strain, and Melton is still recovering from his left ACL surgery. When both players return, they are projected to be in the Warriors’ rotation.

The Warriors are also expected to bring in Seth Curry in the near future, so things don’t look promising for Payton II, especially if he doesn’t have a good start to the season.
