Google added an unexpected twist to the fallout from the blockbuster trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Miami Heat.
Fans discovered that searching “Giannis” on Google now triggers Heat-colored confetti across the screen. There is also a “Welcome to Miami!” message. The feature quickly went viral, with many Bucks fans seeing it as another painful reminder that the two-time MVP is no longer a beloved Deer.
The discovery gained traction after BucksRealm shared a picture of the search result on X.
Google has previously used similar search animations to celebrate major sports achievements. It remains questionable whether a sports trade warrants twisting the knife on fans such as this one.
The animation arrives just days after one of the biggest trades in recent NBA history. Antetokounmpo spent 13 seasons with the Bucks, winning two MVP awards, an NBA championship, and Finals MVP honors. Although he was injured for much of last season, Milwaukee’s fanbase still adores Giannis, who has become arguably the greatest player in franchise history.
The Giannis saga has unfolded over the past year with constant speculation and back-and-forth reports. It reached its peak around the trade deadline, as the media covered Antetokounmpo’s future nonstop even while he publicly expressed his desire to remain in green for life. However, he also emphasized his strong desire to win at all costs.
