Grizzlies confirm Scotty Pippen Jr. out for season

The hits keep coming for Memphis. Scotty Pippen Jr. underwent a sesamoidectomy on his right big toe and will miss the rest of the season, the Grizzlies announced.

The expectation is a full recovery in time for the start of 2026-27.

If that sounds familiar, it should.

Pippen had the same procedure on his left foot back in October and didn’t make his season debut until early February. Given that timeline, this always felt like where things were headed.

Before the setback, Pippen had been productive in limited action, averaging 11.4 points, 4.7 assists and 1.9 steals in just over 21 minutes across 10 games. Last season, he appeared in 79 games and carved out a steady role off the bench.

Now he joins a long list. Ja Morant, Brandon Clarke, Zach Edey and others have all missed significant time as injuries are one reason this has been another lost season in Memphis. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was also ruled out last month.

The Grizzlies were granted a hardship exception and signed Tyler Burton to a 10-day deal.
