The Hawks have been searching for help in the frontcourt and were recently linked to Mavericks center Daniel Gafford. That move could still be on the table before tomorrow’s deadline, but for now, they’ve acquired Jock Landale in a three-team trade with the Jazz and Cavaliers.
The Hawks have now moved on by making a much more cost-effective move for a big man by agreeing to acquire Jock Landale in the three-team deal with Utah and Cleveland that sends Lonzo Ball to the Jazz. https://t.co/xrt1tKAv4K

Landale isn’t going to turn the Hawks into championship contenders overnight, but Atlanta essentially gave up nothing for him, and he should provide a boost where the team needs it most.
In 45 games with the Grizzlies this season, he’s averaging over 11 points per game on 51% shooting and 38% from beyond the arc, while also pulling down more than six rebounds in just over 21 minutes per game. He’s not much of a shot-blocker for his size, but he’s a capable interior defender and is playing on a league-minimum salary.
This is objectively a strong under-the-radar move for the Hawks and doesn’t prevent them from continuing to upgrade the roster before Thursday’s trade deadline.
