According to Shams Charania, the Atlanta Hawks have inked a multi-year contract extension with head coach Quin Snyder.

This extension has been rumored for months, but after the way the Hawks season ended with three straight embarrassing losses to the Knicks, not every fan in Atlanta was on board.

That series loss to New York no longer looks nearly as bad. The Hawks remain the only team in the NBA playoffs to have beaten the Knicks, and they did it twice, another positive light on just how far the team came over the second half of the season under Snyder’s watch.

The Hawks went 20-6 over their final 26 games to end the regular season, catapulting them from the play-in tournament all the way to the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Quin Snyder and general manager Onsi Saleh have now both signed long-term extensions with the organization this summer. The pair has done a tremendous job building and developing this team, and now the Hawks have an opportunity to really take the next leap.

Atlanta owns two first-round picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, including the 8th overall selection. They are also armed with cap space to make a splash in free agency or via trade. The next couple of months are going to be very interesting, but the first order of business was always to get Snyder and Saleh locked up for the foreseeable future.
