Hawks Beat Wizards 120–105 Behind Alexander-Walker’s 26 Points

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Washington Wizards 120–105 on Wednesday in Washington — their first meeting since trading guard Trae Young to Washington in January.

Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 26 points and made six 3-pointers. He tied a career high with nine 3s in a 104–102 win at Indiana on Monday.

Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu recorded 14 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Jalen Johnson missed his second consecutive game with a sprained left ankle. Guards CJ McCollum and Aaron Wiggins each added 15 points.

Washington center Anthony Davis had 26 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Kyshawn George tallied 25 points. Young finished with 18 points.

Atlanta built a 16-point lead in the second quarter, highlighted by a 13–0 run. Asa Newell tipped in a basket at the first-quarter buzzer. Zuby Ejiofor scored twice in transition. Kingston Flemings hit a runner. Wiggins sank a 3-pointer. Dyson Daniels converted a driving layup to make it 48–32 with 9:06 left in the half.

Washington trailed for the final three quarters. The Wizards closed within seven by halftime and cut the deficit to four twice in the third — the second time on Young’s step-back 3-pointer to make it 83–79. On the next possession, Corey Kispert — acquired by Atlanta in the Young trade — converted a four-point play. The game never got closer than six points afterward.

The Hawks and Wizards complete their home-and-home series Friday in Atlanta for an NBA Cup matchup, according to The Associated Press.
