Hawks, Blazers finalize Vit Krejci trade

The Hawks and Trail Blazers officially announced a deal that sends Vit Krejci to Portland in exchange for Duop Reath and two second-round picks.

Atlanta will receive its own 2027 second-round pick back from Portland, along with New York’s 2030 second, per Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. Both selections were previously controlled by the Blazers.

Reath recently underwent season-ending foot surgery, and there is a strong expectation he will be waived to open a roster spot. Cap expert Yossi Gozlan noted that N’Faly Dante, who is also out for the season with a torn ACL, could be another candidate to be released as Atlanta sorts through its roster.

From the Hawks’ side, this was largely about flexibility. Krejci became expendable after the acquisition of Corey Kispert, and the deal allows Atlanta to recoup draft capital while clearing room.

For Portland, the appeal is immediate. Krejci is a 6-foot-8 guard shooting over 42 percent from three, addressing a major need for a Blazers team that ranks last in the league in three-point percentage. He is also on a team-friendly contract and will be extension-eligible this summer.

Marc Stein of The Stein Line added that Portland remains active on the trade front and plans to promote two-way players Caleb Love and Sidy Cissoko to standard contracts after the February 5 deadline.
