The Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics are the latest franchises to strike a major trade during an NBA offseason that has already been full of fireworks featuring blockbuster deals. Additionally, the Brooklyn Nets were part of the three-team trade on Tuesday.
It is the second major trade for the Celtics in less than 24 hours after the team dealt Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday. Atlanta is adding a former NBA All-Star to pair with Trae Young.
Here is a look at the full trade details of Kristaps Porzingis being traded to the Hawks as part of the deal.
"BREAKING: Boston, Atlanta and Brooklyn are finalizing a three-team trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Hawks, Terance Mann and Atlanta's No. 22 pick to the Nets, and Georges Niang and a second-rounder to the Celtics," ESPN's Shams Charania detailed in a message on X on Tuesday.
Prior to the three-team deal, the Hawks had been frequently mentioned in trade rumors ahead of the 2025 NBA draft.
"Atlanta made a lot of calls on Terance Mann this week, sources say. It's a 2031 Cleveland second-rounder heading to Boston along with Georges Niang," Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer noted on X. "The Nets now have Nos. 8, 19, 22, 26, 27, in tomorrow night's first round."
Kristaps Porzingis' $30.7 million salary does not fit into Atlanta's $25.2 million trade exception. These talks, we're told, have involved the Brooklyn Nets as a third team. https://t.co/SdZfSXRZGh

Porzingis is entering the final season of a two-year, $60 million contract and is slated to be a free agent in 2026. The big man started 57 games as part of the Celtics team that won the NBA championship in 2024.

The Nets now have significant draft capital to help create a core group of young players to build around. Boston is making major moves this offseason following the unfortunate Achilles injury to Jayson Tatum.
Porzingis averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in 42 appearances during the 2024-25 season.
