CJ McCollum isn’t headed for free agency after all.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the veteran guard has agreed to a one-year, $21 million contract extension with the Hawks.
Charania reported that the deal also includes a trade kicker, according to McCollum’s agent, Sam Goldfeder of Excel Sports Management.
McCollum had been eligible for an extension through June 30 and was entering the final year of his contract.
The agreement keeps the 34-year-old under team control through the 2026-27 season and removes one of the more accomplished veteran guards from next summer’s free-agent market.
A longtime NBA starter and proven scorer, McCollum joined the Hawks as part of the organization’s effort to add experience and leadership around its younger core.
