Hawks Waive Will Baker

The Hawks have requested waivers on big man Will Baker, the team announced today in a press release. The move opens up a second spot on Atlanta’s 21-man offseason roster, as the club now has 19 players under contract.

Baker, who went undrafted in 2024 out of LSU, has spent the past two seasons in the G League, suiting up for the Iowa Wolves in 2024/25 and the Osceola Magic in ’25/26.

A 6’11” center, Baker averaged 9.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 18.6 minutes per game in 43 appearances for Orlando’s NBAGL affiliate last season. He was subsequently part of Orlando’s Summer League roster in Las Vegas in July, averaging 8.0 PPG and 2.3 RPG in three outings (11.4 MPG).

However, it looks like the plan for Baker this fall is to join the Hawks’ G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks. They acquired his returning rights from Osceola in a four-team trade last month.

Baker had been an Exhibit 10 contract with Atlanta and will receive a bonus worth $91K if he spends at least 60 days with the Hawks’ affiliate this fall.
