After qualifying for the playoffs and pushing the New York Knicks to the limit in the first round in 2024-25, the Detroit Pistons will enter this upcoming season with higher expectations.
This summer, the Detroit Pistons added Caris LeVert, Javonte Green, and Duncan Robinson while re-signing Paul Reed to a two-year deal. If the team plans to make more moves before next season’s trade deadline, Tobias Harris could be a name to monitor in the market.
“It’s doubtful the Pistons would do this, because they love Tobias Harris. But anyone could be moved in the right package. An older veteran such as Harris, on an otherwise young team, could be the guy on the go if Detroit starts exploring,” Sam Amico wrote on Hoops Wire.
In his first full season back with the Detroit Pistons, Harris averaged 13.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on 47.7 percent shooting from the field across 73 regular season appearances, having served as one of the team’s reliable veterans.
Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report recently floated the idea of trading for Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen. In his proposal, the Detroit Pistons would part ways with Tobias Harris, Ron Holland, Marcus Sasser, and two future first-round picks.
“Markkanen, 28, is in the prime of his career and joins a potential Pistons starting five that consists of Cunningham, Ivey, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren with LeVert, Duncan Robinson, Isaiah Stewart, Paul Reed and others off the bench. In the East, this is a group that can now challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks for a spot in the Finals,” Swartz wrote.
“Of the 16 playoffs teams this past season, Detroit ranked 15th in made threes and 14th in accuracy. Markkanen would do wonders in the Pistons’ outside attack while serving as a big cutting target for the young guards on this roster to find,” he added.
