Chris Paul is reunited with the Los Angeles Clippers after an eight-year odyssey, and he’s expected to assume a much different role than the first time he came to the team in 2011.
As the 40-year-old guard joins a title-contending roster, Paul will likely see his minutes reduced with the Los Angeles Clippers since he has the likes of James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, and Bradley Beal on his side.
“From what I understand, he’s (Paul) not gonna have guaranteed playing time. There are going to be nights where James Harden and their backup Kris Dunn get the minutes at point guard, and Chris Paul might not play at all, which is something we’ve never seen from him before.” Windhorst said about Paul on ESPN.
“He has understood that. He understands that he is going to be in that spot that he hasn’t. He wants to be on a competitive team in the market. He wants to play near his family,” he added.
Chris Paul has pretty much worn the No. 3 jersey throughout his NBA career, and he’ll continue to do so with the Los Angeles Clippers, thanks to Bradley Beal’s classy gesture.
“Chris Paul will wear jersey No. 3, and Bradley Beal is still determining what number he’ll wear. Lawrence Frank said Bradley Beal offered to give it to him as soon as CP3 to LAC was a reality,” ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly reported.
Paul recently indicated that 2025-26 is likely his final NBA season, and winning the elusive Larry O’Brien trophy with the Los Angeles Clippers is the best way for him to conclude his career.
