Norman Powell scored 19 points and Kel’el Ware delivered a pivotal double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds as the Miami Heat survived a wild final sequence to edge the New York Knicks 115-113 on Monday night.

Davion Mitchell added 18 points, Simone Fontecchio chipped in 14, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Pelle Larsson each scored 13 for a Miami squad still playing without Bam Adebayo (toe) and Tyler Herro (ankle).

Deuce McBride led New York with 25 points, while Mikal Bridges scored 23 and Karl-Anthony Towns posted 22 points and 16 rebounds. The Knicks were without both Jalen Brunson (ankle) and OG Anunoby (hamstring), and got 28 combined bench points from Josh Hart and Jordan Clarkson, the only reserves to score.

Miami appeared to be in full control after taking a 10-point lead with three minutes remaining, but New York stormed back with an 11-3 run. Towns drilled a deep three with 22.4 seconds left to make it 114-113, and Mitchell split a pair of free throws moments later to extend the margin to two.

What followed was one of the most chaotic endings of the NBA season. McBride missed a jumper, Towns grabbed the offensive board and missed again, and officials initially ruled Kel’el Ware guilty of goaltending on the follow-up attempt, seemingly tying the game. After review, the call was overturned, leading to a jump ball at midcourt.

New York won the tip, but McBride missed once more, and Towns collected two more offensive rebounds only to miss both putback chances. Mitchell finally secured the rebound for Miami as time expired, sealing the Heat’s narrow victory.

Miami also dominated the bench battle 43–28.
