The Miami Heat attempted to acquire Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns, but Pat Riley and Co. weren't able to complete the deal.

The Suns agreed to trade Durant to the Houston Rockets on Sunday for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in this year's draft and five second-round picks.

Miami needs to acquire more talent around All-Stars Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro after getting swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs.

Riley has his eyes on one of Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry's teammates.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Heat are interested in Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, who becomes a restricted free agent this offseason.

Kuminga appeared in 47 games for the Warriors this season. He averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 45.4% from the field, 30.5% from beyond the arc and 66.8% from the foul line.

A one-time NBA champion, Kuminga turns 23 in October. He has career averages of 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

The Warriors lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the 2025 playoffs in five games. Curry suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in Game 1 of the Timberwolves series and never returned.

Without Curry, the Warriors lost four games in a row after winning Game 1 in Minnesota.

Golden State acquired Jimmy Butler from Miami in February. As a restricted free agent, Kuminga can either re-sign with the Warriors or sign an offer sheet with another team.

If Kuminga signs an offer sheet with another team, the Warriors can either match the offer sheet or let the swingman leave and work on a sign-and-trade deal.
