Here's Why the Phoenix Suns Didn't Land Bojan Bogdanovic

It's another swing and a miss for the Phoenix Suns this offseason.

The organization has now failed to secure the talents of Kevin Durant, Dennis Schroder and Bojan Bogdanovic in the past few months.

Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro first reported the Suns reached out to the Utah Jazz to begin negotiations for Bogdanovic.

The three-point shooting from him would have been a strong upgrade for Phoenix's PF position, but ultimately Phoenix wasn't able to get a deal done.

After the Los Angeles Lakers took over lead talks (in public perception at least), it was ultimately the Detroit Pistons who landed Bogdanovic for the mere price of Kelly Olynyk and Saben Lee.

Suns fans saw the compensation for Bogdanovic and quickly wondered why Phoenix general manager James Jones wasn't able to pull off the deal.

Now, we may know why.

The Suns had asked for Jarred Vanderbilt as part of their package.

Why was Vanderbilt so valued by Phoenix? Arizona Sports' Kellan Olsen explained why:

"Vanderbilt, 23, has quickly established himself as one of the most versatile defensive players in the league, a 6-foot-9 wing with long arms that can hold his own against the majority of the possible matchups he could see on any given night. He’s also a terrific rebounder, which helps make up for his lack of a perimeter shot," said Olsen.

The Suns appear to be sticking to their guns when it comes to trade capital.
