The Golden State Warriors need some frontcourt depth following the free agency departure of Kevon Looney, and they’re reportedly eyeing Al Horford as his potential replacement.
According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, the Golden State Warriors want to sign a veteran stretch center to bolster their roster alongside Stephen Curry , Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green.
“Team sources have identified a stretch center as a high priority,” Slater wrote. “Many in the league continue to link Al Horford to the Warriors as a preferred target.”
Horford was an integral cog for the Boston Celtics’ title run in 2024. The 39-year-old center averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 42.3 percent shooting from the field across 60 regular season appearances (42 starts) in 2024-25.
ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel recently reported that the Golden State Warriors are considering Chris Boucher as their next free agent signing if they miss out on Al Horford. Boucher won his first NBA championship with the team during his rookie year in 2018.
“If the Warriors miss out on Al Horford, who is being pursued by several big-name teams, keep a close eye on Chris Boucher as a cost-effective option,” Siegel posted on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Dubs also still maintain interest in Gary Payton II and De’Anthony Melton.”
Boucher played 50 regular season games for the Toronto Raptors in 2024-25, averaging 10.0 points and 4.5 rebounds on 49.2 percent shooting from the field and 36.3 percent from three-point range.
