The Hornets were again without rookie center Ryan Kalkbrenner, who missed a second straight game due to a sprained left elbow. His availability for Friday’s contest at Orlando remains uncertain.
Coach Charles Lee said the medical staff is still working through the next steps.
“We’re still just trying to figure out what the plan is going to be,” Lee told Roderick Boone of the Charlotte Observer.
Veteran forward Grant Williams continues his recovery from the right ACL tear he suffered early last season and was unable to offer a clear timetable for his return.
Williams did, however, spend time this week handing out Christmas gifts to Hornets employees, a reminder that he remains fully engaged with the organization.
“It’s all about making sure that I come back to build this team up to compete and win,” Williams said, via Boone. “I feel great right now, but at the same time, we have a plan.
“Whenever that date comes around, I feel like I’ll be at my best self and be able to give 110 percent to this roster. We’re trying to turn this thing around the right way, and I wouldn’t want to do it anywhere else.”
There was a notable milestone Monday for Kon Knueppel, who became the fastest player in NBA history to reach 100 made three-pointers.
Knueppel needed just 29 games to hit the mark, shattering the previous record held by Lauri Markkanen, who reached the total in 41.
For a Hornets team still navigating injuries and inconsistency, it was another encouraging sign of individual progress within the bigger picture.
