The Charlotte Hornets are building out their roster depth with a new piece.
Per Shams Charania of ESPN, Charlotte is inking second-year combo guard Antonio Reeves to a new two-way contract. Reeves was cut by the New Orleans Pelicans earlier in July, before his 2025-26 minimum contract could get guaranteed.
This summer, the lowly Hornets brought in several reinforcements to flesh out their backcourt specifically, including combo guard Collin Sexton, shooting guard Pat Connaughton, Spencer Dinwiddie, the team's own incumbent guard Tre Mann, and rookie lottery pick Kon Knueppel.
Charlotte now boasts the longest active streak of missed playoff appearances, with nine straight to date. If some of these guards hit, All-Star guard LaMelo Ball finally suits up for enough healthy bouts, and forwards Brandon Miller and Miles Bridges continue to develop their game, perhaps the Hornets' luck will change ina depleted Eastern Conference.
The Charlotte Hornets are signing guard Antonio Reeves to a two-way NBA deal, sources tell ESPN. The 2024 Pelicans second-round pick averaged 6.9 points and 40% 3-point shooting in 44 games as a rookie last season.

An All-SEC and the 2024 Sixth Man of the Year while with the Kentucky Wildcats, the 6-foot-5 pro was selected with the No. 47 pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft.
In 44 bouts with Charlotte proper last season, the 24-year-old averaged 6.9 points on .456/.395/.800 shooting splits, 1.4 boards and 0.9 assists, across 15.0 minutes a night.
Reeves thrived in 11 contests with the Pelicans' NBAGL affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron, averaging 24.9 points on .470/.416/.800 shooting splits and 5.8 boards.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports that the Hornets are slated to cut current two-way shooting guard Damion Baugh to open up a slot for Reeves. Reeves will now join point guard KJ Simpson, a 2025 All-Summer League Second Teamer, and newly signed power forward Drew Peterson.
