The Charlotte Hornets have reached an agreement to sign guard Antonio Reeves to a two-way contract, per NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.
Reeves, 24, was the 47th overall pick in the 2024 draft and spent his rookie season with the New Orleans Pelicans, appearing in 44 games and averaging 6.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in 15 minutes per night. He shot an impressive 45.6% from the field, 39.5% from three, and 80% from the free throw line.
The Kentucky product also put up big numbers in the G League, averaging 24.9 points and 5.8 rebounds on 47% shooting overall and 41.6% from deep in 11 games with the Birmingham Squadron, New Orleans’ affiliate.
It came as something of a surprise when the Pelicans waived Reeves earlier this month, ahead of his 2025-26 salary becoming guaranteed. But New Orleans has a revamped front office, which didn’t select Reeves in last year’s draft.
Charlotte doesn’t currently have a two-way slot available, so one of KJ Simpson, Damion Baugh or Drew Peterson will need to be let go to make room. Peterson was just signed last week, so it seems likely either Simpson or Baugh — both holdovers from last season — will be the odd man out.
Simpson was named to the All-Summer League second team, but Baugh had his moments too as the Hornets went on to win the Las Vegas Summer League championship.
