Houston Rockets Prioritize Resigning Steven Adams

Houston Rockets would like to retain unrestricted center Steven Adams this offseason. Adams was a big piece of what the Rockets like to do as he provided size and strength to the lineup. In an article by Kelly Iko of The Athletic, he discusses why the Rockets would like to obtain  Adams:

Veterans Steven Adams, Jeff Green, and Jae'Sean Tate will be unrestricted free agents as of June 30 — but of the trio, Adams is seen as the clear priority, team sources told The Athletic.

The 31-year-old's career revival this season — recovering from a right knee injury and becoming a critical part of Udoka's late-season rotation — is the reason hammering out his future is arguably Houston's top priority, those sources said.

The 6'11", 265-pound center has emerged as one of the league's premier rebounders, anchoring the Rockets in the paint with toughness, timing, and a relentless motor. He averaged 3.9 ppg and 5.6 rebounds per game last season. His presence on the defensive glass has helped limit second-chance points, while his offensive rebounding has generated countless extra possessions for a team that relies on physical play and interior dominance.

If the Rockets can't resign Adams it will be a huge void for Houston to replace.
