Trade speculation surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo continues intensifying as the Milwaukee Bucks struggle.
Despite organizational efforts to retain the superstar, their 10-15 record and play-in positioning suggest Giannis Antetokounmpo may seek opportunities elsewhere.
Giannis prioritizes championship contention, which the Milwaukee Bucks appear unable to provide this season.
Several teams have been linked to potential pursuit, including the Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers , and Houston Rockets.
The Rockets possess valuable young assets that could facilitate a trade package for Giannis.
Former player and current analyst Tim Legler proposed Alperen Sengun as the centerpiece while advocating to protect Amen Thompson from inclusion.

“I think I know what Sengun’s ultimate ceiling is. Like, we’re watching it right now. I know he’s a really young player, but I don’t know if there’s much more than you’re seeing right now out of Sengun, which by the way is pretty damn good. All Star calibre,” Legler explained.
Legler specifically urged the Rockets to exclude Thompson from any Giannis package, believing the young defender possesses significantly higher developmental potential than Sengun.
“I don’t know what the ceiling is going to be on Amen Thompson. So, that would be very scary to see that come to fruition in another place for the next decade if he ends up taking it another stratosphere, which I think he’s got the potential to do,” Legler stated.
“So, it would be Sengun and then obviously there’d be some other stuff that would have to come back to Milwaukee as well,” he added.
Both players offer distinct skill sets and positional value. Thompson functions as a versatile guard with defensive prowess, averaging 1.4 steals and 17.4 points per game while providing size and switchability.
Sengun represents a modern center capable of comprehensive contributions including scoring, rebounding, and playmaking.
He currently averages 23.1 points, 7.1 assists, and 9.1 rebounds per game, demonstrating All-Star level production.
Who do you think is most likely?

Positionally, Giannis would directly replace Sengun’s frontcourt role while likely exceeding his statistical output. And he also seems fit enough to play together with Kevin Durant.
This positional redundancy strengthens the argument for trading Sengun rather than Thompson, whose defensive ceiling and positional versatility provide unique long-term value the Rockets cannot easily replace.
