How Bucks, Tyler Herro feel about potential partnership

As trade speculation surrounding Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to dominate the NBA offseason, a new report has provided insight into how the organization and Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro reportedly view the possibility of joining forces.

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, there is mutual interest between Herro and the Bucks should a larger Antetokounmpo trade ultimately reshape Milwaukee’s roster.

“To be clear: I don’t get the sense that the Bucks don’t want Herro,” Fischer wrote.

“I’ve actually heard that Milwaukee and Herro have mutual interest.”

The report adds another layer to the ongoing discussions involving Antetokounmpo, who remains at the center of trade speculation despite still being under contract with Milwaukee.

Herro, a Wisconsin native who starred at Whitnall High School before playing collegiately at Kentucky, has frequently surfaced in hypothetical trade frameworks involving the Heat and Bucks. The 26-year-old has developed into one of Miami’s primary offensive weapons and would provide Milwaukee with an accomplished scorer should the franchise decide to move on from the Antetokounmpo era.

However, Fischer noted that Herro’s presence alone may not be enough to satisfy Milwaukee’s long-term objectives if a trade is completed.

“But the Bucks will clearly be trending toward a total reset from the Antetokounmpo Era if they proceed with a trade over the next few days,” Fischer wrote.

“If they can get additional future assets by shipping Herro to Detroit or elsewhere … how could they resist?”

That possibility aligns with recent reports connecting the Detroit Pistons to a potential three-team framework. In that scenario, Antetokounmpo would land in Miami while Herro could ultimately be rerouted to Detroit, allowing Milwaukee to collect additional draft capital and young assets.

Meanwhile, NBA analyst Zach Lowe recently identified the Heat as the frontrunner in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes despite acknowledging that a deal remains unfinished.

“Miami is the frontrunner to me until I hear like concrete evidence that anyone has beaten the offer that has been sitting there for a long time,” Lowe said on The Dunker Spot.

Lowe also suggested Milwaukee’s hesitation may indicate the Bucks are still searching for stronger offers or attempting to extract additional value from Miami before committing to a franchise-altering decision.

“We know that I keep seeing these reports like Milwaukee doesn’t love Miami’s offer,” Lowe said. “It’s like, really? You don’t think they do? He’s still on the Bucks.”

For now, Antetokounmpo remains in Milwaukee, and there is no indication that a trade is imminent. Still, Fischer’s reporting suggests that a partnership between Herro and the Bucks is not viewed negatively by either side.

Whether that partnership ever materializes may ultimately depend on how Milwaukee balances immediate talent against the long-term assets it could acquire in one of the most consequential trades in franchise history.
