Not only did the Cleveland Cavaliers sweep the Golden State Warriors for their 2024-25 regular-season series, but they also recorded a +35 point differential over the Stephen Curry-led team in their two meetings. Despite playing at the Chase Center, the Warriors had no answer for the Cavaliers, who destroyed them in demoralizing fashion, 113-95.
Aside from Moses Moody, no one on the Warriors could muster a respectable shooting line, as the team recorded 33 percent shooting from the field and an ice-cold 23 percent from 3.
Despite holding a 27-26 lead in the first quarter, the Warriors fell victim to a 19-2 scoring run in the third quarter ignited by the Cavaliers. Golden State typically destroys opposing teams with third-quarter scoring onslaughts, but Cleveland provided an Eastern Conference variety of the dose on Monday.
Never recovering from the Cavaliers' second-half slashing, the Warriors continued to shoot themselves out of the radius of a close game.
Although six players scored in the double digits, none of the Warriors reached the 20-point mark. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers had two players with 20-plus points.
Cavaliers guard Darius Garland finished with 25 points on 10 for 17 shooting from the field and a 3 for 8 mark from 3. In addition to the productive scoring performance, Garland dished eight assists and finished with a game-high +23 in plus-minus.
Meanwhile, Moody led the Warriors with 19 points in 20 minutes. The backup guard shot 7 for 8 from the field and 3 for 4 from long range.
Following the loss to the Cavaliers, the Warriors are now 10th in the Western Conference, with the Phoenix Suns only one game behind. On Thursday, they will host the Philadelphia 76ers, providing a chance to improve the franchise's morale.
