How Did KAT Dominate Magic?

Sunday's New York Knicks vs. Orlando Magic contest revealed why Karl Anthony-Towns deserves significant praise. Towns helped his team rebound in more ways than one after their disappointing loss to the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA Cup. The Knicks center recorded a dominant stat line in the Knicks' 100-91 victory over the Magic.

On a night in which Jalen Brunson scored a team-high 32 points, Towns walked away with a genuinely impressive stat line.

Towns scored 22 points and grabbed 22 rebounds against the Magic's third-ranked defensive rating. Despite going scoreless from the 3-point line, he recorded a perfect 7 for 7 mark from the charity stripe.

The Knicks center posted his 13th career performance with 20-plus points and rebounds, and the first in his time with the Knicks.

Although Towns did accumulate six turnovers and allowed Moritz Wagner to score 12 points, his dominance on the boards and inside attack put the Knicks in position to seize the third seed from the Magic.

Towns is having an MVP conversation caliber of a season. With dominant stat lines such as Sunday's over the Magic, he'll continue to hear his name in such a significant conversation.

The Knicks wouldn't have excelled at such a successful rate without Towns, especially given their rim-protecting Mitchell Robinson sidelined. Furthermore, Towns is scoring nearly the same average as Brunson's 25 points per contest. As vital as Brunson is to the team's future, Towns merits the best player conversation for the Knicks.

The Knicks center averages 24.8 points and a league-leading 13.9 rebounds. Towns has a chance to continue his dominant streak against his former team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, on Thursday.
