It was not too long ago that Stephen Curry sat on the podium, at a press conference, and said that the Golden State Warriors looked very ' mid.' They certainly were the furthest thing from average in their convincing 139-105 thumping of the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Warriors got off to a strong start in this game and never looked back. After grabbing a 35-19 lead in the first quarter, the Warriors kept their foot on the gas pedal, either tying or winning every quarter thereafter.
Curry, himself, had a dominant individual performance. The Warriors superstar posted 30 points, including a perfect 8-8 from 3-point, to go with 10 assists on the evening.
One reporter at the post-game press conference made sure to highlight that Curry was the first player in NBA history to pair 10 assists with having that specific combination of perfect 8-8 shooting from 3-point. The four-time champion had a good laugh at that fact and pointed to playing "free" and with "joy" as reasons for his success.
"First of all, thanks for making up a stat that I could be a first at," Curry joked. "That's pretty cool. I didn't really think nothing of it. Sometimes when you have like a little injury or something that's random, it kind of forces you to focus a little bit, and just be free. [I'm] just happy I got to play because I was kind of unsure going into the day."
Curry continued discussing his tremendous performance: "I didn't get many attempts. I got up in the first half, but all four of them were really good in rhythm shots. And then from there, you're kind of just flowing off of the joy of things going our way."
Lately, it has not really felt like things have gone the way of the Warriors, as Curry highlighted in relation to this game. It is good to see Golden State able to ride the positive momentum when it does come their way.
