On the way to the Men's Team USA Basketball gold medal campaign in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Stephen Curry had a couple of monumental performances. However, the Golden State Warriors star didn't win the Olympic Men's Basketball MVP. Although LeBron James earned such honors, Curry's historic efforts earned the guard a prestigious award.
Curry averaged a team-high 14.8 points, shooting 50 percent from the field, 47 percent from 3, and a remarkable 100 percent from the charity stripe during the 2024 Olympics. Despite a few close calls, including game-saving performances from Curry, Team USA went undefeated and beat the Victor Wembanyama-led Team France in the gold medal game.
In Team USA's last two games, against Serbia and France, Curry erupted for a total of 60 points on 17 made 3-point shots.
Curry rewound time in the summer, as he displayed awe-inspiring basketball, scoring 17 points in the opening period against the Nikola Jokic-led Serbia in the semifinal and draining multiple 3s in Wembanyama's face during the gold medal game.
Not only did Curry capture fans' hearts, but he also seized on business opportunities by trademarking "Nuit-Nuit," the French translation of "night-night," incorporating his in-game celebration.
For Curry's legendary performances and star-level contributions to the team and the event at large, Team USA Men's Basketball named Curry the 5-on-5 Player of the Year award.
Although James had the better overall tournament run, Curry had more signature moments, ultimately providing Team USA with multiple sparks to win gold.
