How Did Tyrese Haliburton Ascend Pacers Rankings?

In a short period, Tyrese Haliburton has become one of the best players in the Indiana Pacers' history. Although he's not on Reggie Miller's level, Haliburton climbed the Pacers' all-time leaderboard during Wednesday's 119-105 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.

Haliburton is the last of a dying breed.

Not many players in the NBA, especially from a point guard perspective, aim to find teammates before scoring. However, Haliburton's unselfish nature aligns with NBA legends John Stockton and Mark Jackson.

Haliburton has eight double-doubles in his last 10 games, with all having double-digit points and assists.

The Pacers' star point guard scored 22 points and dished 10 assists against the Hornets. Haliburton's 10 assists number placed him seventh in franchise history in terms of total assists. Haliburton passed four-time All-Star Roger Brown.

Brown played with the Pacers during the ABA era from 1967 to 1975.

Despite Haliburton's rough start to the 2024-25 season, he's since become one of the more efficient players in the NBA. The Pacers starting point guard has 632 assists to 114 turnovers. When Haliburton has the ball, you typically don't have to worry about turnovers, as he has 36 games of fewer than two.

Indiana's darling, Miller, leads the franchise with 4,141. Haliburton currently has 2,218. Although he has a ways to go before topping Miller in the current NBA era, and Haliburton's tendency to pass first, he could end his career as the highest assists producer in the franchise's history.

The Pacers play the Utah Jazz on Friday, giving Haliburton ample opportunity to stack assists against the worst team in the NBA.
