After 17 years and 1,297 games, LeBron James’ 10-point scoring streak has finally ended.
It was a fitting ending to a historic run, as LeBron James dished a game-winner to Rui Hachimura to beat the Toronto Raptors. He finished the game with 8 points after turning down a potential bucket with seconds remaining.
As far as records go, James’ 10-point streak is about as unbreakable as they come. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer has shown unprecedented longevity and is the only player to suit up in his 23rd NBA season.
The most likely player to break the record? It’s probably Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who now has the second longest active 10+ points streak behind 37-year-old Kevin Durant. But to break it, he’d have to do something ridiculous.
Gilgeous-Alexander is having a historic season of his own and is looking likely to retain his MVP award from last season. He’s scored 20 points in every game, and has failed to score 30 only four times in 22 starts.
Gilgeous-Alexander is currently on a streak of 170 games in a row with at least 10 points, so he’s got a long way to go to break the Los Angeles Lakers star’s record.
If he plays every single game moving forward and scores over 10 points a night, Gilgeous-Alexander would catch James’ record in 2039, when he is 41 years old.
He’s just entering his prime at 27 years old, so it goes to show just how healthy and consistent any player would have to be to catch the record. Most likely, James’ incredible record will never be beaten.
Only the all-time greats of the game are at the top of the list of players with the longest 10+ points streaks, although none of them are particularly close to James.
In second place, as you might expect, is the great Michael Jordan, who had a run of 866 straight games from 1986-2001 with both the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards.
| Rank | Player | Consecutive Games (10+ Points) | Dates of Streak |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | LeBron James | 1,297 | Jan. 6, 2007 – Dec. 4, 2025 |
| 2 | Michael Jordan | 866 | Mar. 25, 1986 – Dec. 26, 2001 |
| 3 | Kareem Abdul-Jabbar | 787 | Dec. 4, 1977 – Mar. 1, 1987 |
| 4 | Karl Malone | 575 | Dec. 12, 1991 – Mar. 20, 1999 |
| 5 | Kevin Durant | 562 | Feb. 27, 2009 – Mar. 15, 2017 |
The full list beyond the top five is more difficult to confirm with absolute certainty across all historical records, but these five stand as the clear leaders in NBA history.
Next is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, meaning the top three names on the list are many people’s top three players of all time. “The Captain” had a run of 787 consecutive games scoring in double digits spanning a decade, starting in 1977.
Behind them are Karl Malone and Kevin Durant. The latter has the longest active streak. Durant’s longest streak is 562 games, and he’s currently on a run of 267 straight games.
