How Taylor Swift reacted to Steve Kerr sneaking ‘All Too Well’ song lyrics in press conferences

Steve Kerr secretly turned Warriors press conferences into a Taylor Swift lyric challenge, and even Swift was stunned when she found out.

The story came from ESPN’s feature on Kerr’s decision to stay with Golden State, but one of the strangest details had nothing to do with rotations or the Warriors’ future.

Instead, it showed how Kerr entertained himself during the grind of NBA media duties by hiding “All Too Well” lyrics in plain sight.

Taylor Swift caught Steve Kerr’s hidden lyric game

As ESPN reported, Steve Kerr spent part of the 2022-23 season quietly slipping phrases from Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well” into press conference answers.

The stunt started after a March 2023 win over the Houston Rockets, when Kerr said, “I walked through the door of the locker room at halftime.”

That line matched the opening of Swift’s song, but Kerr delivered it naturally enough that nobody in the room caught what he was doing.

Over the long season, Kerr kept working more phrases into his answers and crossing them off as he went.

His son Matthew later edited the clips together for the family group chat, making it look like Kerr had recited nearly the whole song through Warriors media sessions.

Taylor Swift wanted Steve Kerr’s All Too Well video public

The best part came when the video eventually reached Swift through a mutual friend. According to Kerr, Swift’s first reaction was, “Wait, is this real?”

She thought the idea was creative and funny, which makes sense because Kerr had basically pulled off a season-long Easter egg using her lyrics. Swift even asked, “Can I put it on social media?”

Kerr declined and asked her team to keep it private, even though the entire stunt had technically happened in public night after night.

That is what makes the story so good. Kerr hid the lyrics in front of reporters all season, got the actual artist’s approval, and still chose to keep the final video as a private joke.
