The Los Angeles Clippers reunited with veteran star Chris Paul after his one-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs expired this summer. Paul is back on the team he found significant success. Before he journeyed to Houston, Phoenix, Golden State and San Antonio, he was the leader of the Clippers, together with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.
This time, however, Paul won’t be the face of the franchise. The 12-time All-Star will likely have a reserve role, a backup to his former Houston Rockets teammate, James Harden. CP3 isn’t the same star as he used to and is in the twilight years of his NBA career.
But he can still make a significant impact on any team he joins due to his intelligence on the court. On Monday, he was officially introduced to the media as a member of the Clippers roster.
According to Chris Paul, he was looking forward to returning to LA and being with his family. One of the main reasons why he returned to the Clippers was that his family lives in LA, and he’s been away for quite some time.
“If I’m really honest, I wanted to get back and play here, by any means necessary,” Paul said. “I didn’t even care what the team looked like, I just wanted to be home, be here with the Clippers.

CP3 is looking forward to what the team can achieve this season and has reached out to his teammates.
“I’m just so excited about the moves that the team made this offseason. Brad [Beal] coming to the team, Brook Lopez, all the young guys. I’ve talked to James [Harden], I’ve talked to Kawhi [Leonard]. I’m even more excited about what I think we have a chance to do.”
Paul returns to the Clippers and will wear No. 3 on his jersey.
After his initial stint with the Clippers, Harden was the first All-Star teammate of Chris Paul. Together, they led a high-powered backcourt in Houston that went against the Golden State Warriors. However, their efforts were unsuccessful, leaving them to part ways after two seasons.
With the LA team, they’re back together, and Paul said that there’s unfinished business for them.
“And so, it’s wild that you get this opportunity again after those two years and the success that we had. And we find we definitely know we had unfinished business. So, we get a chance to see what’s going on here.”
Chris Paul and James Harden led the Rockets to the Western Conference finals in their first year together.
