Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown is looking forward to the 2025-26 season, even if his team isn’t expected to compete for a championship, following Jayson Tatum’s Achilles rupture in the second round and the Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis trades this offseason.
With Tatum sidelined for at least one year, Brown is expected to carry the Boston Celtics, and he said he is more than ready for the new challenge.
“I feel like I’m very talented,” Brown said via SB Nation’s Noa Dalzell. “I’m one of the talented people in this league, on this planet, I feel like. I’m looking forward to showing the world more.”
After the Boston Celtics’ 2024-25 season ended, Brown underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee after sustaining a partially torn meniscus. The one-time NBA champion is expected to be available when training camp starts.
Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said he is “encouraged” with Jayson Tatum’s rehab during his latest trip to Las Vegas to watch his team compete in the NBA 2K26 Summer League.
“He seems to be doing really well. Rehabbing’s hard. He’s a competitor. He’s gonna compete in everything he does. I’m really encouraged. It’s been fun to spend time with him every day,” Stevens said about Tatum.
In other news, Boston was recently named as a top free agent destination for Damian Lillard , who also has an Achilles injury. The nine-time NBA All-Star became a free agent after he was waived and stretched by the Milwaukee Bucks this summer.
