The Indiana Pacers’ unexpected run in these playoffs continues as they force a Game 7 in the NBA Finals. Indiana wasn’t supposed to be in this predicament, but they are, and they’ve set a record as a team along the way.
The Pacers play the ultimate team basketball as it is never a one-man show. Their star, Tyrese Haliburton, is one of the only remaining “true point guards” in the league, leading to an open and fluid offense.
This is partially why the Oklahoma City Thunder, who boasted the best defense all season long, struggle at times stopping Indiana’s offense. During the season, OKC had a defensive rating of 107.5.
After the first six games of the NBA Finals, that rating had gone up to 110.3. Will the Thunder’s defense be the deciding factor in Game 7?
The Pacers truly are a fun team to watch. Their team-first offense is a breath of fresh air, compared to a star-dominated offense.
Indiana’s offense has led to the Pacers making history in the playoffs as they are the only team to have eight players score at least 200 points during a postseason run.
#Pacers are 1st team in NBA history with 8 players to score at least 200 points in a single playoffs:
Pascal Siakam (456)
Tyrese Haliburton (390)
Myles Turner (311)
Aaron Nesmith (288)
Andrew Nembhard (272)
Bennedict Mathurin (219)
Obi Toppin (216)

If the Indiana Pacers want to secure their first NBA title, they’ll need their entire offense to be clicking in Game 7. Indiana has won in Oklahoma City already, and they can certainly do it again.
