The Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies reportedly made a trade on Saturday. ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the news of both teams’ trades on X, formerly Twitter. Here’s the latest on the Pacers and Grizzlies trade.
ESPN’s Shams Charania took to social media to announce the Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies trade in two posts on X. Charania, 31, initially wrote, “Free agent Center Jock Landale has agreed to a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, sources tell ESPN. Landale solidifies the Grizzlies frontcourt as the team and his agent, Sammy Wloszczowski of SIG Sports, reach terms.”
Charania followed up with, “The Memphis Grizzlies are trading center Jay Huff to the Indiana Pacers for one second-round pick and one second-round pick swap, sources tell ESPN.”
The Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies trade can work out on both sides. The Pacers searched for frontcourt depth, while the Grizzlies sought two draft picks. For the Pacers, American Center Jay Huff can positively impact the Pacers’ frontcourt depth. The Pacers traded Myles Turner to the Milwaukee Bucks after Turner’s salary demands were reportedly rejected by the team.
And, for the Grizzlies, Australian Center Jock Landale can help solidify the Grizzlies’ frontcourt. Landale, 29, can provide a strong presence on the court, thanks to his experience and skills. Landale’s ability to stretch the floor and contribute defensively are two crucial qualities for the Grizzlies.
The Indiana Pacers will retain the remaining three years of Huff’s four-year, $10 million contract signed in 2024. The Memphis Grizzlies will continue to elevate themselves after being eliminated in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. Best of luck to both the Pacers and Grizzlies!
