Indiana Pacers Stun Cleveland Cavaliers In Game 1 Playoff Upset

The Indiana Pacers took on the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Sunday evening ... and the outcome was not one that many expected.

Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers were able to take the first game in Cleveland by a 121-112 to take a 1-0 series lead ... marking the first loss for the Cavs in the playoffs, since they swept the Miami Heat in four games.

Andrew Nembhard was the leading scorer for Indiana with 23 points, but everyone did their part. Haliburton had 22 points with 13 assists, Myles Turner had three steals and two blocks, and Bennedict Mathurin came off the bench and contributed 11 points on 3-5 shooting from three.

Donovan Mitchell had solid numbers by the end of the game for the Cavs, but he shot an atrocious 1-11 from three, as he could never get it going from deep. That was one of the keys for the Pacers in the win.

They were able to shoot a scorching 52 percent from three, while Cleveland only shot 23 percent. Indiana seemed to have a hot shooting night from everywhere, only missing one of their 15 attempts at the free-throw line.

However, it is wishful thinking for the Pacers to believe that the Cavaliers will have another game like this in the series. Coach Rick Carlisle's Pacers will have to remain on their A-game if they want to beat the team with the best record in the East.

Game 2 will be played in Rocket Arena in Cleveland on Tuesday, May 6. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
