Stephen Curry might have impressed following his return from an injury hiatus. But that hasn’t diminished the woes for Steve Kerr and his team. With the Golden State Warriors, one expects them to be a championship contender. But for the last few years, that has not been the case. And while the front office is bracing up for some superstar acquisitions, NBA insider Matt Steinmetz spat out some brutal truths.
Looking at the Warriors’ roster, it is clear that Curry is missing a quality partner. While the likes of Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler are there, their performances and health haven’t been of much help to the team. And at 38, Curry taking all the workload looks a bit too much for him. Recently, the Warriors were rumored to go after LeBron James. But as per Steinmetz, that might not be the case.
“Giannis, Dwight, LeBron, George, Markkanen, Kawhi, Durant… Guys, the Warriors have allegedly gone after, never gotten, but this’ll be the magical year that they get one of them,” said Steinmetz on an episode of the ‘Steiny & Guru’ podcast.

Well, historically speaking, the Warriors have always made the headlines with the big names. Unfortunately, they have never been able to close out on the big signings. For example, during the February trade deadline, the front office went after Kawhi Leonard. But as the deadline passed, Kerr and team yet again had no luck.
But as the offseason approaches, talks of a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo signing are again making the rounds. And Stephen A. Smith thinks the Curry-Antetokounmpo pairing will be a stellar combo.
With all the spotlight on the Milwaukee Bucks’star, Antetokounmpo is expected to start a ‘bidding bonanza.’ And most certainly, the Golden State Warriors will emerge as one of the biggest bidders for the 31-year-old. Considering the possibility, Stephen A. Smith pointed out that the Warriors could become a powerhouse with the Curry-Antetokounmpo duo.
“What if Giannis stood up and said, I want to make sure I go to Golden State. And you think about the gazelle that he is, the dude that he is in the open court, the way that he finishes at the basket, and how he has to draw your attention. And then all of a sudden, he’s somebody that could kick it out to that man, Steph Curry. It’d be like you fantasize about stuff like this,” said Smith.
"Giannis, Dwight, LeBron, George, Markkanen, Kawhi, Durant… Guys the Warriors have allegedly gone after, never gotten, but this'll be the magical year that they get one of them."
