Free agent guard Hugo Besson has officially signed with ASVEL in his native France, the team announced in a press release.
The 58th overall pick in the 2022 draft, Besson has yet to sign his first NBA contract, having continued to play overseas since he was selected late in the second round four years ago. The 25-year-old has spent the past two years with Turkish clubs, most recently suiting up for Tofaş.
Besson’s draft rights are controlled by the Knicks.
Here are a couple more signings that were finalized on Saturday:
- Former NBA big man Vernon Carey Jr. has signed with Maxima Roma, according to the Italian team. Carey, the 32nd pick in 2020, spent parts of three seasons with Charlotte and Washington from 2020-23. Still just 25 years old, Carey spent part of last season with Houston’s G League affiliate. Maxima Roma, which recently signed veteran guard Aaron Holiday, is entering its first season in Italy’s top domestic league (Lega Basket Seria A) and the EuroCup after acquiring Pallacanestro Brescia’s sporting license and relocating the team to Rome.
- Trabzonspor has signed free agent guard Isaiah Canaan, the Turkish team announced (via Twitter). The American has spent the past two seasons in the EuroLeague with Crvena Zvezda, but essentially missed all of 2025/26 due to a knee injury, notes Dario Skerletic of Sportando. After being selected 34th overall in the 2013 draft, Canaan spent parts of six seasons in the NBA, having suited up for six different teams. The 35-year-old has been productive overseas when healthy, converting over 40% of his three-point attempts across four EuroLeague seasons.
