Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski recently broke his silence on the protracted Jonathan Kuminga saga this offseason.
If Podziemski has it his way, he would rather have Kuminga by his side next season. However, he acknowledged that he has no control over the ongoing contract standoff between the latter and the Golden State Warriors.
“No matter how (Kuminga)’s situation is resolved, it doesn’t change how we view JK as a person, as a player. Obviously, we all want him to be in the Golden State. It doesn’t change anything,” Podziemski stated on 95.7 The Game’s Willard and Dibs.
“Obviously, everybody on our team knows it’s the media’s job to try to nitpick and find things to write and talk about and separate teammates so they have a story to write… Like, we all know that’s how it works; especially the guys who have been around it for 10 to 15 years, they know how it works,” he added.
According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, the relationship between Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors is unsalvageable, as the former doesn’t want to play for the latter again, amid their contract standoff.
“The only reason Kuminga hasn’t accepted this contract is because he truly doesn’t want to return to the Warriors,” Siegel reported. “To change his mind and for these two sides to reunite, it seems like an understanding of what Kuminga wants will need to be at the forefront of this two-year proposal.”
“This standoff with Kuminga has stopped them from finalizing deals they’ve had lined up in free agency since the start of July with Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, and others. Until Kuminga’s contract situation is resolved, these players remain unofficially signed by the Warriors,” he added.
