The NBA season has gotten off to a bit of a slow burn so far this year, and while the ratings may be down compared to years past, the level of play is still as high as it has ever been.
We saw that showcased on Wednesday night in a game between the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs, when young phenoms Ja Morant and Victor Wembanyama going up against each other. With a high flyer like Morant, and a 7-foot-3 alien like Wembanyama, there's always the hope that both players will meet at the rim at some point during the game, and the two didn't disappoint in this one.
On Wednesday, it was Morant who got the last laugh, throwing down one of the most impressive posterizing dunk we have seen in recent NBA history.

The only problem? It didn't count...
A split second before Morant rose up to try and throw one down over Wemby, the ref blew a whistle for a live-ball foul, stopping the play. It didn't stop either player, though, as the Grizzlies star elevated, cocked back, and hammered one home on the Frenchman's head.
It's a highlight that will live on for decades, and it had everyone watching absolutely speechless on social media.

The Grizzlies went on to win the game 129-115, with Morant and Desmond Bane leading Memphis, scoring 21 points apiece. Meanwhile, Wembanyama had 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 blocks in the game as he continues his run towards the Defensive Player of the Year award.
It's been a good season for Memphis so far, as they sit in 3rd place in the Western Conference with a 26-15 record midway through January. The same can't be said for the Spurs, though, who are on the outside of the playoff picture looking in, with a 19-20 record.
