The Ja Morant situation is growing more complicated by the day. Morant had a rough year, plagued by injuries and fallouts with the Memphis Grizzlies’ front office. Back in mid-April, Tim MacMahon stated that the Grizzlies star is ready to move on. Now, despite Memphis not having qualified for the playoffs, the 26-year-old point guard’s trade market is surging.
During the trade deadline, the Milwaukee Bucks showed some interest in the 2-time NBA All-Star. However, the Grizzlies’ front office immediately shut those down. Moreover, a February 2026 report by Tomer Azarly states that the 26-year-old felt taken aback by the lack of interest from franchises during the trade window. Thankfully, an analysis from Jake Fischer points towards a wider trade market in the offseason.
“Sources say that the Jazz, who have the emerging Keyonte George at the forefront of their backcourt, are not currently regarded as a possible landing spot for Morant with Memphis widely expected to resume its efforts to trade him in the coming weeks,” opined Fischer.

He further added, “However … I am starting to hear predictive murmurs that the Grizzlies will find a wider trade market for Morant than they did in February when external interest was extremely minimal.”
Surely, this is a welcome move, as the Grizzlies star last played on January 21. After Memphis lost to the Atlanta Hawks, he suffered a left UCL sprain.
Meanwhile, with some significant trade rumors surfacing, Fischer’s analysis might just turn out to be true.
The 26-year-old star recently made an appearance at the Footprint Center. Now, trying to dig deeper into what Fischer said, it does make sense. This year, the Phoenix Suns struggled significantly in the postseason. Despite having some big names in their ranks, Phoenix suffered a 4-0 hammering at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Thus, they would be eager to land someone like Morant who could provide stability to the roster. With Devin Booker struggling significantly, the need for a quality point guard was very much evident.
Now then, with a lot going on, fans will look to see what happens next.
