Ja Morant has broken his silence on the heels of reports that the NBA is investigating him following the Memphis Grizzlies-Golden State Warriors game on Tuesday. The two-time All-Star was caught doing a double finger-gun taunt during the game that saw the Dubs defeat the Grizzlies 134-125.

On Wednesday afternoon, Morant took to X to react to the news about the investigation.

“Ja this, Ja that,” said Morant, followed by a laughing emoji.

He made another post following it, saying, “God bless y’all.”

According to Shams Charania, Morant isn’t the only player who will be investigated by the NBA. In his post about the league’s investigation on Wednesday, the ESPN insider also said that they will look into Buddy Hield’s gesture during an interaction with Morant, where he appeared to do the same finger-gun gesture.

Whether Ja Morant instigated the exchange with Hield or did the gesture as a response could factor into the league’s investigation results. However, with him already having a history of serving two separate suspensions for firearm-related incidents on Instagram, chances are the league will come down strongly on him regardless of who acted first.

Ja Morant had a history of being suspended for 25 games

The NBA had previously served Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant two separate suspensions for brandishing guns on Instagram live.

The first incident saw Morant wave what appeared to be a pistol while he was hanging out at a Denver nightclub, resulting in him getting an eight-game suspension. A few months later, he was seen waving another firearm in another Instagram live.

“The potential for other young people to emulate Ja’s conduct is particularly concerning. Under these circumstances, we believe a suspension of 25 games is appropriate and makes clear that engaging in reckless and irresponsible behavior with guns will not be tolerated,” said NBA commissioner Adam Silver in a statement.

According to Silver, the Grizzlies complied with the terms of Morant’s reinstatement to the team after he served his 25-game suspension, but the latest situation involving him could get him into trouble once more even though there were no real weapons waved this time around.
