The New York Knicks just sealed the greatest single-game comeback in NBA Finals history.
Down by as many as 29 points, Mike Brown's team never stopped fighting, capping off their comeback with an epic game-saving block and game-winning putback by OG Anunoby.
The former Toronto Raptors star finished the game with 33 points on 10-of-15 from the floor and positioned himself as a strong Finals MVP candidate.
That's why fellow Knicks star Jalen Brunson made sure to give him his flowers, calling out those who continue to sleep on him as a role player.
“OG is someone who brings it every night. His confidence has grown just because of his work ethic. Regardless of what the outside world thinks of him,” said Brunson. “We have a superstar in the locker room.”
Brunson tipped his hand to Anunoby's work ethic and determination. While he may not get as many touches, he's more than capable of having that type of performance on a nightly basis, says Brunson.
“His work ethic, since the moment I’ve been teammates with him and seen him, has grown. His confidence has grown just because of his work ethic. Everything that I’ve seen, he’s got exponentially better at,” he added.
Anunoby has now been the Knicks' most consistent player not only in the series but through the entire playoff run.
He's played lockdown defense and has knocked down big shot after big shot.
Brunson is a volume scorer, but he's struggled with efficiency and physical defense, and Anunoby has bailed the Knicks out with clutch scoring many times.
Now, the series will head back to San Antonio for a pivotal Game 5, and the Knicks are just one win away from their first NBA championship in 53 years.
