The New York Knicks are having a great season, sitting with a solid 40-22 record and holding the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.

With big names like Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and OG Anunoby leading the way, the team has been consistent and exciting to watch.

In their recent game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Knicks found themselves going into overtime as they tried to best LeBron James and Luka Doncic. The Slovenian put up 32 points and 12 assists. As for James, he had 31 points and 12 rebounds.

Despite putting up a great fight, the Knicks came up short, losing 113-109. For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson was outstanding, putting up 39 points and 10 assists to keep the Knicks in the game.

Knicks make Brunson announcement after injury

Things took a worrying turn near the end of overtime. With just over a minute left on the clock, Brunson injured his ankle while driving to the basket.

He landed awkwardly on Austin Reaves’ foot and went down in pain. Even so, Brunson stayed in to make two free throws before heading to the locker room. Unfortunately, he didn’t return for the rest of the game.

After the game, reports said that Brunson had some tests done on his ankle. Right now, there’s hope that it’s just a sprain, but the team hasn’t shared more details yet. However, his X-rays did return negative, according to SNY's Ian Begley.

"I don’t know the severity of Jalen Brunson’s ankle injury but the X-ray of the injury last night came back negative, per SNY sources familiar with the matter. Initial image showed no broken bones for the All Star guard," Begley reported.

As the Knicks get ready for their next game against the Clippers, it has been confirmed that he will not suit up for that game.

The best thing that can happen to New York right now is for just something minor and for the player to get some needed rest.

It had been reported earlier that coach Tom Thibodeau had decided not to rest his guys, given that the team had 20 games left this season.

The team's postseason prospects heavily depend on his health, so they will closely monitor his recovery.
