Jalen Suggs suffered a scary non-contact injury in the Magic’s victory over the Knicks on Sunday. He fell to the floor holding his right knee after it buckled following a layup attempt in transition.
He was helped off the court and immediately went back to the locker room, Jason Beede reports for the Orlando Sentinel (via Twitter). He did not return to the game.
Knicks head coach Mike Brown opened his post-game remarks by offering his prayers for Suggs, per James L. Edwards III of The Athletic (Twitter link).
Magic head coach Sean Sweeney said that he talked to Suggs after the game and that the defensive-minded point guard was in good spirits, Beede notes (via Twitter). Sweeney was unable to provide an update, save that he’ll be evaluated later, presumably with an MRI coming tonight or tomorrow.
Suggs has struggled with injuries throughout his career, playing fewer than 58 games in all but one season of his career, including arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in 2025. The Magic will now wait on the results of Suggs’ tests and hope that the injury looks worse than it actually is.
