Brooklyn Nets star James Harden is often recognized for his amazing play on the basketball court, a place he has dominated for the better part of a decade now.

But on Thursday, the 9x All-Star was recognized for something much more profound: giving back to his local community.

As reported by News12, the Beard partnered with a non-profit group to help at-need New Yorkers celebrate Thanksgiving with a free dinner.

The non-profit organization, North Brooklyn Angels, gave out 300 meals on-site and delivered 100 more. Harden showed his support by helping to distribute meals throughout the evening.

“Happy Thanksgiving…" Harden said. "Hope you guys enjoy your day, get some good food, and be with your family. Peace and respect, love!”

Harden, 32, was traded to the Nets back in 2021 and has been crucial in helping the team rise the ranks of the Eastern Conference.

Thankfully, this Thanksgiving wasn't the only time Harden has given back to those in need. In fact, he recently organized a charity event in Houston.

On Wednesday, “The Beard” announced via his social media channels that a “James Harden & Friends” charity concert would take place at Houston’s Bayou Music Center on Saturday, Aug. 28.

The concert (tickets) is being promoted under Harden’s JH-Town Weekend brand, which featured a variety of events (sports, concerts and social) in 2017, 2018 and 2019 to raise funds for numerous city initiatives. The event was skipped in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it appears to be returning in at least some form for 2021, even with Harden no longer playing for the city’s basketball team.

Harden often gets a lot of criticism for his questionable tactics on the court, and you can't blame fans for having an issue with it.

But perhaps it's time to recognize Harden more for the work he does in the streets, which involves helping many people less fortunate than him.
