While Patrick Beverley’s podcast is home to many controversial hot takes, he seemingly had to go back on his word after the Eastern Conference Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks ended, thanks to James Harden.

Beverley has opined that James Harden is the best shooting guard the league has ever seen after Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, also putting him above Dwyane Wade.

But after the Knicks swept the Cavaliers and Harden struggled to provide any substantial box score numbers, this led Beverley to reconsider his stance on his controversial take.

“I made my statement, I’m not going to reopen that. It looks awful, though, It has me looking completely awful. It has me looking like I don’t know what the h*** I’m talking about. I can’t believe Beard did me like this…. Now I have to look at myself in the mirror like, ‘Is my feeling or comparing players, am I wrong?’”

“I have to look at it like ‘Man, Pat, you was kinda off with that one.’ And that would be fair to say.” Beverley added.

Before the series against the Knicks, Beverley was always quite high on Harden.

However, most fans believe it is personal bias that the former All-Defensive guard is choosing the Beard over Wade, as he played with him for five seasons on the Houston Rockets and also as an opponent.

While Harden has slightly better overall statistics than DWade, the debate usually ends up in the former Miami Heat guard’s favor when championships come into play.

Wade’s legacy is defined by three NBA championships with the Heat, including one in 2006 as a rising star.

While the playoffs propelled Wade’s legacy to a higher level, the same cannot be said for Harden, who has a terrible playoff reputation and is arguably the biggest playoff underperformer in league history.

Most MVP-level players play equal or better basketball in the big games, but Harden has gone the other way.

Beverley deserves to have his own opinion, but Wade did not take his comments lightly and fired back.

Dwyane Wade Claps Back After Patrick Beverley Says James Harden Is Better

Wade addressed Beverley’s comments head-on, pushing back on both the comparison and the credibility behind it.

“I don’t understand how you can have a conversation about me and state facts, and when you’re never as good as me… where is your facts to say that someone is better? Don’t you ever fix your mouth to say that.” Wade said sternly.

Wade also reminded the world that despite his career being halted with injuries, he still had a Top 75 career in league history. A casual reminder of his abilities that we saw in the 2000s.

Debates like these will continue to rage on, but Wade’s response to Beverley was a casual reminder that being the best is more than just producing, it is about what you actually accomplish at the end of the day.
