Jayson Tatum has been an absolute tear now that he’s back to full strength. The Boston Celtics superstar missed the majority of the regular season as he recovered from a torn Achilles tendon in the NBA playoffs last year. Tatum, however, has been making up for lost time.

In 11 games played, Tatum has averaged 20.9 points on 39.9% shooting, 9.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.0 minutes per contest. The six-time All-Star is also knocking down 2.9 triples per game on a 32.3% clip.

Tatum battled some rust in his return, which is completely understandable considering how long he was sidelined by injury. He’s now found his groove and has firmly re-established himself as one of the best players in the NBA.

A testament to Tatum’s return to top form is the big week he had for the Celtics. He led Boston to a 3-0 record in its last three games, averaging 25.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game.

The NBA recognized Tatum’s strong play with the Eastern Conference Player of the Week title for the 23rd week of the regular season. Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic was named the Player of the Week for the West.

Tatum’s hot streak hit a minor road bump on Monday, though. The Celtics gave him the night off against the Atlanta Hawks for injury management purposes.

Tatum has been sidelined for Monday’s contest, which is the second night of a back-to-back for Boston. They defeated the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, 114-99.

It does not seem like Tatum has suffered an injury setback, and Monday’s absence appears to be purely for rest purposes. He should be back in the lineup for their next game, which is on Wednesday against the Miami Heat.
