Jazz GM: 'There's no intent' to trade All-Star Donovan Mitchell

Utah Jazz All-Star Donovan Mitchell has been the subject of trade speculation this offseason, especially after the team traded away three-time defensive player of the year Rudy Gobert just over a week ago.

The Jazz have reportedly "shut down" teams calling about Mitchell, but the buzz has yet to subside.

On Saturday, Utah general manager Justin Zanik answered questions about Mitchell's status with the Jazz.

When asked, Zanik didn't call Mitchell untouchable but said the team had no intention of trading the 25-year-old guard.

"Change is inevitable in the NBA. I'm not trying to be cryptic or anything else, but Donovan is on our roster and he's a very, very important part of what we're trying to do," Zanik told ESPN's Tim MacMahon. "Things evolve in the NBA, so I couldn't sit here and say anybody is [untouchable]. We're trying to build a championship team, but there's no intent there [to trade Mitchell], at all."

Mitchell had another standout season in 2021-22 for the Jazz. He earned his third-straight All-Star nod, averaging 25.9 points, 5.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals over 67 regular-season games.

The Jazz were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs in six games by the Dallas Mavericks. Mitchell averaged 25.5 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.3 rebounds.
